October marks Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month, a time dedicated to recognising and supporting families affected by miscarriage, stillbirth, and neonatal death. Each year, on October 15th, the world comes together for the Wave of Light — a global remembrance event where candles, monuments, and buildings are illuminated in pink and blue at 7pm local time, honouring the memory of babies who died too soon.

For the seventh consecutive yearWaterWipes will participate in the Wave of Light, lighting up its Headquarters in Drogheda in pink and blue. This gesture also reflects WaterWipes’ ongoing support for Féileacáin, the Stillbirth and Neonatal Death Support Group in Ireland — a not-for-profit organisation providing vital resources and emotional support to families navigating perinatal loss.

Féileacáin’s work is deeply rooted in compassion. Through initiatives like the Gifts of Remembrance Service, they offer hospitals across Ireland free keepsakes such as memory boxes, remembrance candles, and infant imprints — helping families preserve precious memories during unimaginable times.

How You Can Participate

October is not only a time for remembrance but also an opportunity to raise awareness and foster community support. Here are meaningful ways to get involved:

  • Light a candle at home on October 15th and share a photo on social media using the hashtags #feileacainwaveoflight and #waveoflight
  • Attend local or virtual remembrance events to connect with others and honour lost lives
  • Create safe spaces for open conversations about pregnancy and infant loss

WaterWipes is proud to stand alongside Féileacáin and the families they support, advocating for greater awareness and access to essential services during this month and beyond.
