Supporting Australia’s Premature and Miracle Babies

Every year, approximately 48,000 newborn babies in Australia require specialised care in a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) or Special Care Nursery (SCN). Of these, around 27,000 are born prematurely, and tragically, up to 1,000 lose their fight for life.

For families, the experience of welcoming a baby under such unexpected and challenging circumstances is life-altering. Without adequate support, this journey can have lasting emotional impacts - not just on parents, but on the entire family unit.

Since 2017, WaterWipes has partnered with Miracle Babies Foundation’s vital Nurture-Program and Kangaroo-A-Thon. This initiative offers emotional support to families during pregnancy, throughout their NICU or SCN stay, and for years beyond. Thanks to this partnership, over 6,000 families have received direct support from over the last 7 years.

From Local Roots to National Reach

Miracle Babies Foundation began as a small local charity, deeply moved by the generous support of its community. This backing enabled the organisation to expand its services, offering comprehensive support to NICU families and providing Liverpool Hospital’s NICU with essential equipment and resources.

Today, Miracle Babies operates nationally, ensuring families and NICUs across Australia have access to the care and support they need.

Kangaroo-A-Thon: Comforting Families, One Chair at a Time

Since 2021, WaterWipes has proudly sponsored the annual Kangaroo-A-Thon, donating a Kangaroo Care Chair to a different hospital unit each year. These chairs support skin-to-skin contact - known as Kangaroo Care - which is proven to benefit both baby and parent.

WaterWipes remains committed to supporting Miracle Babies Foundation and the incredible families navigating the NICU journey. Together, we continue to make a meaningful difference - one baby, one family, one chair at a time.
