Meet Misty Williams – Clinical Specialist

With more than 20 years of neonatal nursing experience, Misty Williams plays an essential role in providing insightful, professional guidance on neonatal practices to the WaterWipes® Team.

Over the years, she has collaborated extensively with leading professionals in the field to highlight risk factors, challenges, and interventions for nappy rash in Neonatal Intensive Care Units (NICUs).

The WaterWipes® Team also worked with Misty in 2020 when they convened a global advisory board of 17 expert healthcare professionals from eight different countries to review specific evidence-based recommendations and best practices for cleaning the diaper area of preterm infants.

The road to becoming an expert

Misty Williams began her budding career at the University of Central Arkansas, where she achieved a BS in Health/HealthCare Administration and Management.

She advanced her career in nursing by obtaining an Associate of Science as a Registered Nurse at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. Later, she pursued a Master of Nursing at the Loyola University of New Orleans.

Through her years of diligent work and study, Misty has continued to hone her skills in Neonatal nursing. She now serves as a Clinical Specialist for the NICU at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences.

Her day-to-day involves providing theory and evidence-based knowledge for neonatal staff that shape professional development, regulatory compliance, and performance improvement across different aspects of neonatal nursing.

Misty’s remarkable career – the story so far

Not only is Misty a certified High Risk NICU Nurse, but she also has a strong passion for mentoring and professional development. Her illustrious career has enabled her to train the next generation of neonatal professionals, ensuring a high quality of care is upheld in the industry.

She does this by serving on the National Association of Neonatal Nurses Nomination Committee and is the President-Elect of the Arkansas Association of Neonatal Nurses.

The WaterWipes® Team has previously worked with Misty to tap into her expertise in Evidence-based Neonatal Skin Care Practices. She has helped us to create high-profile guidelines on how to incorporate WaterWipes® products into neonatal nursing environments. We’re happy to have Misty’s great depth of experience and professional guidance to steer our research-based neonatal studies.

Misty’s Fun Fact

Misty lives in Arkansas with her family, and she’s a diehard cat lover. She owns two furry felines named Smokey and Luna!

Published works and presentations

As part of her collaboration with WaterWipes® Misty reviewed the 2021 Utah Hospital’s Clinical Study and was quoted: “The reduced incidence and duration of DD in the NICU at the University of Utah Hospital is a great accomplishment for the team.

“It provides a best-in-practice case to inspire other NICUs to review current management of DD, use of baby wipe products, and to implement guidelines to help improve perineal skincare outcomes and maintain skin integrity for premature babies’ delicate skin.”
