As Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor settles into life, so too are Harry and Meghan adjusting to their new role as parents. There’s nothing that quite rivals the birth of your first child – the day your life irreversibly changes, and a precious new arrival makes you a parent forevermore.

Whether your little love has recently made their arrival or was born some years ago, you’ll have an idea of the whirlwind of emotions that surrounds the royals as a relatively new family of three.

Many of us can recall the anxious wait for our baby’s arrival. For Meghan and Harry, the entire world was watching – and waiting and there was even more consideration given to keeping the countdown private.

Like us, the royals had to discuss how they would announce their new little prince or princesses’ birth. In true Meghan style, the world first got wind of Archie’s birth via Instagram – with a classy blue image that simply read: “It’s a BOY! Their Royal Highnesses the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are overjoyed to announce the birth of their child.”

It seems that Archie had his own ideas about getting here, despite his parents’ best laid plans and hopes for a home birth. The pair rushed to a nearby, private maternity hospital in London where Meghan finally gave birth with Harry by her side. They made a swift retreat back home later that day, where a beaming Harry uttered the now famous words “…how any woman does what they do is beyond comprehension”.

Settling into parenthood

Three months on and Meghan and Harry have managed to keep their life with Archie relatively private – aside from the mandatory christening details, family portraits and rare paparazzi photo. What we have seen hints to Harry being every inch the doting dad.

From his first comments that, “It’s been the most amazing experience I could ever have possibly imagined… As every father and parent would say, your baby is absolutely amazing. But this little thing is absolutely to die for and I’m over the moon”, we can imagine he’ll be hands-on helping around home.

As Archie settles into his new nursery in the couple’s recently renovated home, his parents will be right there wishing the best of everything for him – with their hearts full; tired but brimming with pride. Because that’s what unites us all as new parents – that fierce, protective love and the unwavering commitment to wanting what’s best for our baby.

The drive for the best

As parents ourselves, we recall how powerful this drive is; those same feelings arose at the start of our parenting journey too. Back in the 1990s, our founder and CEO, Edward McCloskey, set up Irish Breeze as a manufacturer of cotton wool. This came in handy when his first daughter developed terrible nappy rash as a result of the chemicals in the so-called ‘sensitive’ wipes they were using. Edward and his wife switched to using cotton wool and water instead and the rash quickly cleared up.

Just like Harry and every new father, Edward wanted the best for his child, so he set about searching the world for a way to make a product that was as gentle as cotton wool and water, while being more convenient. Scientists and microbiologists said that it couldn’t be done, but Edward persevered and, after five years of extensive research and development – including the discovery of unique, now-patented technology – WaterWipes were born.

He created WaterWipes with 99.9% water and just a drop of fruit extract, with the understanding that whether your little love is royalty or not, the products you use (and those you choose not to use) on their skin are important.

Now, not only are WaterWipes the world’s purest baby wipes, we’re also the only ones to be approved by Allergy UK and registered by the Vegan Society.

As experts in sensitive skin, WaterWipes are proud to be a patron to the book Our Royal Baby, that marks the royal birth.

To celebrate the birth of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s first child, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor, at 5.26am BST on 6 May 2019, London based publisher St James’s House and royal correspondent Robert Jobson have produced the commemorative publication Our Royal Baby.

Charting Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s journey from romance and engagement, through to marriage and new parenthood, this fully illustrated, beautifully designed hardback book heralds the arrival of the newest addition to the House of Windsor, and reflects on the current state of the British Royal Family and the place that it holds in the hearts of the nation.

Our Royal Baby is written by the best-selling, award-winning author Robert Jobson, the royal editor of the Evening Standard in the UK, as well as the leading royal contributor for major television networks in the US, Australia and New Zealand.
